How To Prevent Yourself From Having Too Much Homework

You will likely always have homework but if you are able to pace yourself and follow these simple rules, you can prevent yourself from having too much homework. It is important to spend time practicing the things that you learn in school. However, it can get overwhelming since you have more than one class and then when you add on the other assignments like tests and term papers, you can find yourself really overwhelmed. Here are some ways to lower your frustration and to get the work done a little bit at a time, so that you don’t have to pull an all-nighter.

  1. 1. Don’t procrastinate
  2. If you know that you have a test coming up or a paper to write, don’t wait until the last minute to start it. You never know what you will have to do in the future, so if you have only a little homework to do tonight but you know that you have a test at the end of the week, you can study for an hour or so. That way you are not waiting until the day before the test to study. You may have a lot of homework to do that night.

  3. 2. Take notes
  4. Take notes in class on the various concepts that you have learned. That way when you get home to do the work, it is over really quickly and then you won’t be stuck thinking that you have too much to do.

  5. 3. Create a schedule
  6. Make a plan so that when you have bigger projects due, you will also have deadlines to hit that will let you know if you are on track of not. If you have a unit quiz coming up, create an assignment for each day that you have leading up to the test date to review a various chapter that needs to be reviewed. Then add in any current assignments as you go so that you can chip away at the big stuff while completing the little stuff.

  7. 4. Utilize time
  8. Make the best use of your time. When you are riding on the bus to school or waiting in between classes, you can be completing some of your assignments. It is a great way to cut down on the actual time you are working on your homework once you get home for the day.
